Grilling Season is here.
Grilling Season is here. I am excited for the great weather and I can’t wait to get out, and fire up the grill. I have been calling it a Barbecue for the longest time. However I had an acquaintance that set me straight.
From Wikiapedia,
Barbecue or barbeque (informally BBQ or barbie) is both a cooking method and a style of food. Barbecuing is done slowly over low, indirect heat and the food is flavored by the smoking process, while grilling, a related process, is generally done quickly over moderate-to-high direct heat that produces little smoke.
I didn’t know there was a difference between BBQ and Grilling. Now I know.
I love Grilling
For as long as I can remember I have enjoyed Grilling and the by-product of grilling. I get excited every Grilling Season and I have so many things I want to grill. Food also tastes better right off the grill. Last week I put some chicken and BBQ sauce in the crock pot, I let it cook all day long. The chicken was good, however, it would have been much better on the grill.
Should I get a Smoker?
I would love to get a smoker, however my wife doesn’t like the flavor of smoke, so to me it didn’t make sense to drop the money on a smoker. On the rare occasion that we go to a smokehouse for food. She will get the brisket. Sometimes she’ll like it, however most the time she’ll remind me that she’s not a fan of the smoke flavor. If they have a good sauce to put on it, that will cover up the flavor for her.
However, with the new pellet smokers, I’m toying with the idea of mixing hardwood, with the flavored pellets, that way the smoke flavor isn’t as strong. That is just an idea that I’m toying with. Until then, I’ll stick with my grill.
I have a propane grill, Call me lazy, however, I don’t want to have to deal with the charcoal. I had a charcoal smoker, however, it was too hard to keep the temperature up and not too high.
