Macaroni and Cheese with Bacon Here is the Recipe
Macaroni and Cheese is one of your main staple foods growing up. I loved the Macaroni and cheese out of the box. It was simple to make and it was a yummy lunch, or even a snack if you felt that hunger. The one thing that I found, however, the Macaroni and Cheese you got at almost any buffet was never as good as the stuff out of the box. I’m assuming that was my childlike palette. Since I had never tasted the real thing and was so attached to the powdery cheese that you get in the box.
Making From Scratch
Now that I have since grown and learned a few things in the kitchen. I set myself onto the task of learning to make Macaroni and Cheese from scratch. No box, no processed cheese. I wanted to use real ingredients to make it all by hand. Doing some research I looked into what it would take to make the real thing from scratch. I learned how easy it was to make. I spent over a year testing, trying and developing my own Macaroni and Cheese recipe.
My wife had the great idea of adding Ground beef to the mix to make it more of a meal, and less of a side dish. It reminds me of a box of Hamburger Helper, but it’s made from scratch with no chemicals added.
Making it Mine
All of a sudden I had an epiphany that everything tastes better with Bacon. I tried to figure out the logistics of Bacon Macaroni and Cheese and how to get the most flavor out of the bacon. With more time, trying and testing. I wanted to have the best Bacon Macaroni and Cheese recipe I could. I wanted to make it easy, and tasty at the same time. As a result of testing, trying and working hard I was able to develop a simple yet tasty recipe.

Bacon Macaroni and Cheese
This is one of our family favorites. We have it almost weekly.
Ingredients
- 1 lb Ground Beef
- 1 lb Bacon Crumbled
- 1/2 Cup Bacon Grease
- 1/2 Cup Flour
- 2 tsp Salt
- 8 Cups Milk
- 2 tsp Ground Mustard Seed
- 1 tsp Pepper
- 2 lb Elbow Macaroni
- 4 Cups Cheddar Cheese
Instructions

Cook Bacon and Save Grease.

Cook Ground Beef and discard Grease.

Cook Elbow Macaroni.

Add 1/2 Cup Bacon Grease to Large Sauce Pan.

Add 1 tsp Salt to Bacon Grease.

Add Flour to Bacon Grease and whisk till creamy.

Add Milk to Bacon Grease and Flour mixture on Medium heat whisking occasionally.

Once the mixture has thickened you add 2 cups of Cheese mixing till creamy.

Add 1 tsp Salt, 1 tsp Pepper and 2 tsp Ground Mustard Seed.

Add 2 cups of Cheese Mixing til creamy.

In large bowl Mix Pasta, Bacon and Ground Beef

Pour Cheese sauce all over and mix thoroughly.
Recipe Notes
I am cooking for 6 people and as well as expecting leftovers. You can easily cut this in half and have a good amount of Bacon Macaroni and Cheese for a small family.
